Founded in 1860 by Edouard Heuer in his workshop located in St-Imier, in the Swiss Jura region. It soon became renowned for the excellent quality of its workmanship and precision timekeeping.
By 1887, Heuer had developed calibres with fewer moving parts thus simplifying the chronograph, a construction which is still used and relied upon to this day. By 1916, Charles - Auguste Heuer launched the original Mikrograph, the first mechanical stop watch to measure 1/100th of a second and has since revolutionised timekeeping in sports, and even served as the official stopwatch for the 1920 Olympics. In 1961, John Glenn was the first man to go into space and orbit the earth wearing a Tag Heuer 2915A stopwatch on his wrist and also served as a mission back up timer.
With milestones such as these, the popularity of this brand is easy to understand. Tag heuer watches have a strong association with sports. Models such as The Carrera are associated with Automolbilia, after Jack Heuer created this watch for racing drivers in the 1950’s.
